South Arts Micro Accessibility Grants Deadline: Rolling basis
Grants of up to $2,500 for organizations to make arts programs accessible to persons with disabilities. Open to nonprofit 501 (c) arts organisations in South Arts' service area, which includes Kentucky. Prioritizes organizations identifying as BIPOC or LGBTQIA+, organizations led by persons with disabilities or service people with disabilities. Appalachian Community Fund Technical Assistance Deadline: Open
ACF believes that building organizational capacity and skills is essential for carrying out effective social justice work. Designed to meet specific technical assistance needs of grassroots organizations working for social change in Appalachia, this program awards grants to help build organizational capacity and train board or staff members in key skills. While not arts-specific this funding may be of interest to arts organizations working at the intersection of arts and social change. Appalachian Community Fund LGBTQ Deadline: Proposals accepted at any time
These grants are dedicated to expanding resources for LGBTQ organizing efforts in Appalachian communities. The LGBTQ fund is primarily focused on growing LGBTQ communties’ institutional resources, building capacity in LGBTQ efforts, and assisting organizational development. Special priority will be given to new and emerging efforts, particularly among LGBTQ youth. While not arts-specific, this funding may be of interest to arts organizations working at the intersection of arts and social change. Arts Education: Essential for All Kentucky Students
How are Kentucky arts teachers and teaching artists navigating teaching and learning during the COVID epidemic? Listen in as a panel of outstanding educators from across the state explored this question. “Arts Education: Essential for All Kentucky Students,” a virtual discussion, held Tuesday, October 27, from 5 to 6 pm ET.
The event was sponsored by Kentuckians for the Arts and the Kentucky Coalition for Arts Education.
The panel consisted of:
• Lydia Austin, dance/PE teacher at Brenda Cowan Elementary in Fayette County;
• Cayce Davenport, visual arts teacher at Adair County High School;
• Melissa Marotta, music teacher at Campbell Ridge Elementary School in Campbell County;
• Delaire Rowe, Executive Director, Arts for All Kentucky; and
• Samuel Lockridge, Arts Education Director, Kentucky Arts Council
Jane Dewey, Director of Arts Education, Danville Independent School District, served as the moderator for the conversation.
